    5P201-17-5038 RESTORATION OF THE SAMUEL CHAMPLAIN MONUMENT

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    Work of this Contract comprises the conservation of the Champlain Monument, located at Couchiching Park, Orillia, Ontario.

    Work as described in the contract documents will include:

    Careful removal of bronze statues for conservation;

    Careful removal of Benedict stone steps for conservation;

    Demolition and disposal of Benedict stone plinth and concrete foundation;

    Construction of new reinforced concrete foundation complete with drainage and new backfill;

    Conservation of bronze statues;

    Conservation of Benedict stone steps;

    Fabrication of new Cast Stone plinth to match the existing;

    Design and fabrication of new anchorage to attach conserved bronze statue of Champlain to new Cast Stone plinth;

    Installation of conserved bronze statues, conserved Benedict stones steps, and new Cast Stone plinth on new foundation; and

    Reinstatement of landscaping to match existing.

    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT

    The bidders must attend the site visit at the designated date and time to examine the scope of the work required and the existing conditions. A maximum of two (2) representatives per bidder will be permitted to examine the sites.

    Bidders must communicate with the Contracting Authority no later than one open day before the scheduled visit to confirm attendance.

    Bidders who, for any reason, cannot attend at the specified date and time will not be given an alternative appointment with the Project Manager to view the site and their proposals, although may visit on their own, since the park is accessible to the public.

    CLOSING DATE AND TIME

    July 7th, 2017 at 2PM (EDT)

    National Parks Regulations require that all work is to be performed in accordance with the ordinances, laws, rules and regulations set out in the National Park Act.

    Bidders that consider themselves qualified to provide this Work and intend to submit bids on this project should obtain documents from the Government Electronic Tendering Service through the Government of Canada tendering service at www.buyandsell.gc.ca/tenders. Addenda, when issued, will be available from the Government of Canada tendering service. Bidders that elect to base their bids on documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk. Late submissions will not be considered.

    PERIOD OF THE CONTRACT

    Contractor shall perform the Work from September 5th 2017 and complete it no later than the 18th of May, 2018.
