SCOPE OF WORK / DELIVERABLES:
The Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) wishes to replace the Pointe de l'Ouest FR (NLF 1523) navigation aid structure. The trapezoidal galvanized steel tower was built in 1967. This tower shows significant signs of corrosion and is at the end of its service life.
Work description
- The work that is the subject of this mandate consists of the dismantling of the existing tower, the demolition of the existing foundation, the construction of a concrete foundation, and logistical support for the installation of the new tower by the Coast Guard. The Contractor must also dismantle the old steel structure and demolish the old concrete foundation. Everything will have to be arranged appropriately.
- The current West End structure to be dismantled is 24.4m (80ft) high and the new structure to be installed is 24.4m (80ft) high.
- More specifically, the work is summarized as follows, but not limited to:
- Mobilization, demobilization and support during the works;
- Disconnection of existing power supplies;
- Recovery of existing electrical installations;
- Dismantling, demolition and disposal of the existing reinforced concrete tower and foundation;
- Construction of new reinforced concrete foundation (see Plan QE84600-S01_03, QE84600-S01_07 and QE84600-S01_08 in Appendix E). Provide all necessary means for compliance with these plans and specifications;
- Transport of the steel baskets containing the parts of the new tower (approximately 8000lbs) and 2 baskets (10 'x 8', approximately 8000lbs each) of tools between the Port-Menier wharf and the Pointe site from West.FR;
- Rental of machinery in support of Coast Guard work;
- Snow removal, as required, of the access road and work areas on the site;
- All other work described in this specification and on the plans.
The particularities of the work to be carried out on this site are described in detail in the present specifications and the plans in Annex E. A summary appears in Annex F. The plans of the structures to be dismantled are presented in Annex D.
