    Description

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) has a requirement to maintain its accreditation status to remain in compliance with its mandate.

In 2016, the CBSA introduced a Strategy to support mental health. This vision of the CBSA strategy is to support mental health by creating a respectful workplace that promotes psychological health and safety and creates and enabling environment with a safe space for open dialogue.

The strategy's mission to reduce the stigma and increase awareness within the organization. This can be achieved by:

    • To maintain and/or improve employee’s psychological health.
    • To better meet specific challenges of our organization.
    • To have programs and services that protect the safety and security of employees, clients and people in our care.

The CBSA has taken the initiative to make mental health in the workplace a priority. Therefore, the CBSA has a requirement to obtain a Mental Health First Aid Basic Instructor training for approximately twelve (12) CBSA instructors. Once CBSA instructors have been trained, they will be equipped to deliver training to all employees and front-line officers.
