Description
The purpose of this work is to characterize plastic production, use and management in Canada and identify the potential benefits, impacts, challenges and opportunities from transitioning to a zero plastics waste economy. The specific objectives are:
- To characterize the production, flows and fate of materials and products containing plastics in Canada.
- To estimate the value of plastics waste in Canada and the costs and benefits of end-of-life treatment options.
- To develop an economic profile and competitive analysis of the plastics industry and markets in Canada, including emerging solutions and technologies related to reducing plastics waste and leakage into the environment.
- To analyze the measures for supporting growth of the secondary plastics market.
