    Description

    DELIVERABLES / SCOPE OF WORK

    The scope of work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment, and material for wharf repairs at Twillingate, NL. The work will be completed in strict accordance with the specification and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.

    The project work will consist of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

    • Demolition, removal and disposal of existing ladders, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking, wooden chase, chocks and fenders around full wharf perimeter
    • Supply and installation of new structural timber required for fenders, ladders, wooden chase, wheelguard and wheelguard blocking, as noted on the drawings.
    • Supply and installation of steel pipe wheelguard and associated wheelguard blocking.
    • Demolition of the creosote crib/span section of wharf recently destroyed by fire (limits of demolition work are shown on the drawings). Partial demolition of the adjacent built-on CCA treated crib face is required as well, as noted on the drawings.
    • Construction of new CCA treated timber cribwork in the area noted on the drawings complete with a reinforced concrete deck. Build-up of the existing adjacent crib face is also required, as noted on the drawings.
    • Supply and installation of mooring cleats, structural timber for coping, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking, fenders, ladders, wooden chase, and associated hardware in the areas noted on the drawings.
    • Reinstatement of the existing electrical system to match the existing (intent is to haul back the wire from all existing systems on the wharf, including 6 electrical pedestals and one pole, and reinstate with new conduit/wiring to match the existing). One new wooden light pole will also be required, as noted on the drawings (DFO will supply the fixtures and arms for the light pole, but the Contractor will be responsible for all new conduit/wiring, bollards and mechanical protection). Contractor responsible for all work required to re-establish the existing electrical system on the complete wharf. Conduct all electrical work in accordance with the latest edition of the Canadian Electrical Code. Carry the electrical reinstatement costs in the lump sum.

      FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

      Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense and schedule, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

      Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification section on Health and Safety before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.

      EXPECTED START AND COMPLETION DATES

      The services of the Contractor will be commencing upon contract award. The expected completion date of this project is 16 weeks after contract award.
