    Advance Contract Award Notice (ACAN)
An ACAN is a public notice indicating to the supplier community that a department or agency intends to award a contract for goods, services or construction to a pre-identified supplier, thereby allowing other suppliers to signal their interest in bidding, by submitting a statement of capabilities. If no supplier submits a statement of capabilities that meets the requirements set out in the ACAN, on or before the closing date stated in the ACAN, the contracting officer may then proceed with the award to the pre-identified supplier.

    Definition of the requirement

    Justification for the Pre-Identified Supplier

Request for Quote (RFQ ) W8482-184040/A was posted on from 2018/05/04 to 2018/06/20 for which Canada received one response to provide Alternating Current Generators. The sole bidder, BAE SYSTEMS (Canada) was awarded contract W8482-184040/001/D Mar P 5. The Original Equipment Manufacturer has recently identified that the material will no longer be produced and will become obsolete. The requirements quantity has increased from 6 to 12 to support a ‘lifetime’ of stock for the Victoria Class Submarine Fleet. Due to the change in requirements, this ACAN is being posted with the belief that only one person is capable of performing the contract as allowed for under the Government Contract Regulations exceptions.
