LL 617 Tower Replacement
Kingsville, ON - Lake Erie
Background:
LL 617, Cedar Creek is a small aid to navigation (ATON) located at the southern end of a narrow rubble break wall marking the west side of the entrance of a navigation channel serving both a small craft harbour and a recreational marina in the settlement of Cedar Creek, ON located on the shore of Lake Erie (approximately 4 km west of Kingsville ON). The existing ATON and substructure have deteriorated and require replacement.
Work Summary:
Work under this Contract includes but is not limited to the provision of all labour, materials, and equipment required to:
- Mobilize to project site;
- Remove the existing AtoN tower and salvage current attached equipment; Deliver removed tower and battery box to appropriate disposal facility;
- Install foundation improvements as outlined in project drawings;
- Install new 3.6m (12’) AtoN tower; and,
- Demobilize.
The following work will be completed by the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) and is excluded:
- Supply of new ATON tower.
Site is inaccessible by road and utilization of a suitable floating plant must be anticipated.
Familiarization with the Site:
Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid or costs to do the work. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.
Contractors, bidders or those they invite to site are to review the project specifications before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
