    WORK DESCRIPTION

    The works which are the subject of this contract includes the repair of Lachine Canal walls, the stabilization and the reconstruction of a portion of a timber cribs wall as indicated in the Tender Form as well as on the plans.

    Rehabilitation works may include, but are not limited to, one or more of the following activities:

    Work under this Contract must be completed in full twenty-five (25) calendar weeks (including the two weeks of construction holidays) from the 30 September 2019 and two (2) weeks of finalization (site rehabilitation, laying of topsoil and sodding) on spring, latest date on May 15, 2020.

    • The normal water level in the Canal will be lowered between October 28th, 2019 to December 19th, 2019 inclusively. For the winter period, the water level in the area #4 of the Canal will be raised to approximately 400 mm to provide a water supply. The water will be refilled to the navigation level at the beginning of April 2020. The Contractor shall use this window to complete the seat repair work.
    • Work on crowing walls must begin on October 2019.
    • Work on Timber cribs (sector B2-S-06) must be done as soon as the water level allows it.
    • The Reach 4 area cannot be mobilized until October 28, 2019.

        SECURITY REQUIREMENT

        There is no security requirement associated with this bid solicitation.

        It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the Bidder visit the work site.

        Interested bidders are to meet on June 21, 2019 at the North end of Montmorency Street at the crossroads of St-Patrick and Montmorency Street, Montréal Qc, southwestern district. For more details, please consult the attachment entitled - Optional site visit / Map of the meeting point. The site visit will begin at 10:00AM.

        Bidders are requested to communicate with the Contracting Authority no later than June 19, 2019 to confirm attendance and provide the name(s) of the person(s) who will attend. Bidders may be requested to sign an attendance sheet. Bidders who do not attend or do not send a representative will not be given an alternative appointment but they will not be precluded from submitting a bid. Any clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation resulting from the site visit will be included as an amendment to the bid solicitation.

        ENQUIRIES

        All inquiries of a technical and contractual nature are to be submitted to the Contracting Authority.

        Enquiries regarding this bid must be submitted in writing and should be received no later than five (5) business/calendar days prior to the date set for solicitation closing to allow sufficient time to provide a response. Enquiries received after that time may result in an answer NOT being provided.

        National Parks Regulations require that all work is to be performed in accordance with the ordinances, laws, rules and regulations set out in the National Park Act.

Addenda, when issued, will be available from the Government of Canada tendering service. Bidders that elect to base their bids on documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk. Late submissions will not be considered.

        The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement.
