Description of Work:
The Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development (DFATD) is a Government of Canada department with approximately 14,000 employees. About half of the employees work in over 170 missions outside of Canada. The Department’s activities require specialized skills and expertise that largely must be developed and fostered internally.
The Government of Canada (GOC) is increasingly facing challenges with aging infrastructure, the related increasing cost of maintenance and requirements to modernize traditional IT applications. DFATD, experiencing the same challenges as the rest of the Government of Canada, is consolidating and revising how it approaches aging infrastructure via the workload migration initiative.
The initiative seeks to leverage new and innovative technologies and approaches to migrate from aging infrastructure to platforms that reduce the effort required to maintain applications.
