Testing Canadian Wheat Germplasm For Resistance to Wheat Blast (WB)

Description
The Contractor will collaboratively screen Canadian germplasm for WB resistance. The screening will be performed in three (3) locations;
- Bolivia, Okinawa (Lowland) during May to September
- Bolivia, Quirusillas (Highland) during December to March
- Bangladesh, Jashore (Lowland) during December to April
Germplasm will be sown in two planting dates. The WB screening natural inoculum will be supplemented with artificial inoculation. Laboratories are required close to the field for inoculum production as fresh inoculum is needed for each inoculation. Both days to heading and plant height notes are required to take into consideration phenology of the plants vs WB reaction. Misting systems are required at all three screening sites to develop and maintain an optimum disease screening environment.
