The Parks Canada Agency requires the services of a professional consultant or firm to assist in the development of a structured approach to evidence based conservation in Conservation and Restoration (CoRe) Program projects.
The services will include but are not limited to the following:
- Pilot Evidence Processes – for 2-4 CoRe projects, trial processes for a) assembling, evaluating (measuring collective weight), and documenting existing evidence with an emphasis on determining when evidence is critical and when confidence is warranted with less evidence; b) collecting and reporting on project-generated evidence; c) sharing evidence via Conservation Standards / Miradi / Miradi Share (if approved by the Office of the Chief Information Officer).
- Train and Describe Evidence Processes – provide training to the project manager and working group members in the processes to incorporate evidence at all stages of a project and review / revise draft guidance documents for these processes.
- Develop Recommendations to Implement Evidence Processes – Based on an understanding of existing work flows and business processes and the lessons learned from the CoRe program review, outline pragmatic next steps and adjustments for implementation of Evidence Processes across the CoRe program (and other applications as appropriate, (e.g., invasive alien species (IAS) management, hyperabundant wildlife population management, species at risk recovery).
