Description
Transport Canada (TC) promotes safe, secure, efficient and environmentally responsible transportation. TC works with other government departments and jurisdictions as well as the industry and academia to ensure that Canada's transportation system fulfills the above requirements.
The objective for this project is to utilize the services of an expert contractor to carry out work relating to safety culture in order to advance the requirements of Recommendation 2 of the 2018 Railway Safety Act Review Report.
The scope of work is as follows:
- Carry out an environmental scan and a literature search of safety culture methods which have been used in high hazard industries to identify safety culture performance measures.
- Review international and other relevant performance indicators and define applicability for the Canadian Railway industry.
- Determine the feasibility of using the indicators within the industry Safety Management Systems (SMS) framework.
