Description of the Project
This project is for the remediation, decommissioning and closure of the Underground Complex (UGC) located at CFB North Bay. The UGC includes two buildings located 182 m below ground with two long access tunnels to the surface, as well as several small support buildings. The total building area of the complex is in the range of 20,000 m2.
Description of the Services
At this time DND is anticipating a need for professional services to support the project which may include, but are not limited to:

- undertaking any required studies (e.g. geotechnical, hydrogeological, etc.) to support the options analysis;
- completing investigations to identify environmental impacts and subsequent recommendations for risk management/remediation;
- recommending what equipment can be removed or taken out of operation in a phased/staged approach; and
- preparing tender documents to undertake the decommissioning and closure of the site.
The design consultant may need to coordinate with 3rd party environmental consultants retained by the owner for designated substances.
It is anticipated that the procurement for this program will be initiated in fall 2021. This is conditional on the project receiving approval to proceed by DND.
