    Description of Work:

    The Work is to be performed on JUS current and future managed and administered servers, applications/systems and supported software. Ongoing uninterrupted access to data without performance degradation is of the utmost concern. The Contractor’s DBAs will need to work at times in conjunction with SSC when SQL Server related matters must be escalated. They will be asked to perform work outside of core working hours(7:00AM and 6:00PM ET) including weekends.

    The Server Operating Systems used are Microsoft Windows Server versions 2008 and up. The SQL databases are Microsoft SQL 2012 or higher. The reporting tools used at JUS are Microsoft SSRS and PowerBI although SSAS and SSIS are also analytical and ETL tools used. VMware is used to manage the virtual machines.

    The responsibilities of the Contractor’s DBAs can include but are not limited to:

    • Provisioning of SQL server software including creating clusters and/or high availability groups;
    • Building and maintaining databases for applications and information tools in development and production environments;
    • Developing and implementing security procedures such as for authentication purposes (e.g., Kerberos) including access and user account management;
    • Identifying requirements for improvements to existing databases for system performance and functional requirements;
    • Troubleshooting and resolving database related technical problems in non-production and production environments as well as data issues such as data integrity issues;
    • Advising programmers, analysts, and users about the efficient use of data;
    • Assisting in the design of data exchange interface between systems and related frameworks;
    • Participating in the ongoing technical and application support in a production environment, including high availability (HA) technology and data extract scripts;
    • Optimizing and fine tuning activities;
    • Writing highly complex scripts to Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) data from one or multiple sources including complex data conversions/manipulations;
    • Completing peer code reviews and providing recommendations to optimize performance;
    • Producing documentation for corporate memory purposes;

    Performing knowledge transfer to JUS employees.

    Security Requirement: Common PS SRCL #34 applies
