    Description

    Develop a list of species of worms occurring in Canada, organized by family, for each of the following 14 phylum: Annelida, Platyhelminthes, Gastrotricha, Nemertea, Orthonectida, Rhombozoa, Nematoda, Acanthocephala, Gnathostomulida, Chaetognatha, Kinorhynca, Priapulida, Nematomorpha and Hemichordata. The checklist will be utilized by the National General Status Working Group (NGSWG) in preparation for future assessments of this taxonomic group in the reports of the Wild Species series.

    To develop the list of species of worms, by families, which occur in Canada, the contractor must respect the following conditions:

    • Only species with confirmed occurrences in Canada must be included in the list.
    • Only described species must be included in the checklist (species that have a peer-reviewed name).
    • Taxonomic levels below the species (i.e. subspecies and varieties) must be regrouped under the described mother species.
    • The scientific name of each species must be validated with valid taxonomic references, such as the WoRMS database (see section 4) or other useful references.
    • The contractor must communicate and collaborate with the coordination to regularly share information on the seek resources, provide information on the progress of the work, and facilitate the final revision of the species list and of the associated data by the coordination.
    • The contractor must apply the recommendations of the coordination and respect the requirements of the present contract with regards to the work covered in the contract.

    The Contractor must provide the following documentation upon completion of the Work:

    • List of species, organized by family, for each of the following six phyla: Annelid, Platyhelminthes, Gastrotricha, Nemertea, Orthonectida and Rhombozoa.
    • List of species, organized by family, for each of the following eight phyla: Nematoda, Acanthocephala, Gnathostomulida, Chaetognatha, Kinorhynca, Priapulida, Nematomorpha and Hemichordata.
