    Description

    The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Development (DFATD) has a requirement has a requirement for updating portions of the children’s playground equipment located at the compound of the Embassy of Canada to China, located in Beijing China.

    The requirement consists of the following:

    1. Providing pre-designed/built playground structure(s) and/or play area equipment meeting the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) code CAN/CSA-Z614 and other applicable codes and standards for equipment;
    2. Proposing playground installation layout drawings and full design plan;
    3. Submitting of construction drawings / installation package detailing the correct mounting including sub surface work to properly secure the equipment to be used by a local 3rd party contractor selected by DFATD through a separate installation RFP, and
    4. Providing onsite supervision for installation or through the use of a hired sub-Contractor available within the Beijing vicinity.

    As custodian, DFATD applies duty of care principles in the delivery of it's property program abroad. By doing so, DFATD seeks to meet the Canada Labor Code requirements including Occupational Health and Safety standards and other Canadian standards in the provision of their facilities.

    DFATD provides Canadian diplomatic and consular services in Beijing. The property consists of inter alia buildings and an outdoor recreation facility, including a children’s play area.

    Canadians assigned to the Beijing mission in China may be accompanied by immediate family and part of DFATD’s role is to provide comparable standards of living to what can be found in Canada when possible. Therefore, easily accessible and safe areas for children to interact and play are provided for use by those families that live near or on the compound.
