1. TITLE

   Fisheries and Harbour Management Simultaneous Translation Contract

2. INTRODUCTION

   The Fisheries and Harbour Management team at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans require technology that facilitates online meetings with the industry. We would require Audio-Visual support as well as a ZOOM license. This license must accommodate meetings with 50+ participants. We also require technology capabilities that would permit the supplier to be able to conduct simultaneous translation from English to French and from French to English. Some stakeholders don't have access to a stable internet connection, we also require two telephone conference phone lines. One line for each language.

3. OBJECTIVES OF THE REQUIREMENT

   Provide us with access to a supplier that can facilitate our meetings with the industry as well as internal meetings. We require that the supplier have access to ZOOM, conference lines and recording equipment as we will require the supplier to be able to simultaneously translate the meetings.

4. BACKGROUND

   The Gulf region, being a bilingual region, we require our meetings to be made available in both official languages.

5. SCOPE OF WORK

   Fisheries and Harbour Management require a supplier to translate various meetings simultaneously. We would provide a date and time that works for us and the supplier would then provide a ZOOM link to a meeting set up by them. They would also provide two telephone conference lines for the meeting, one for each language. They would then facilitate the meeting by allowing everyone in the meeting to join followed by having translators there to translate the meeting. The meetings will either be given in English or in French from DFO. We require 1 or 2 translators to simultaneously translate as the call goes on. A technical or IT person from that supplier would also be required to be either present or on call in case we are having connection issues with the ZOOM link or the conference lines. We also require a recording of the meeting following the event.

   6. LOCATION OF WORK

At contractor’s workplace. All meeting will be virtual.

7. LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS

The work for this Contract will be carried out in English and in French. The Contractor’s resource(s) must have an Advanced proficiency in English and in French for the written, verbal and comprehension areas.
