Forensic Audits Services for Indigenous Services Canada

The Corporate Accounting and Transfer Payment (CATP) Branch under the leadership of the Deputy Chief Financial Officer (DCFO) of the Department Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) provides financial and accounting services for the department of Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada (CIRNAC) and Indigenous Services Canada (ISC). Services provided by CATP include:

• internal controls;
• policy development; 
• financial data analysis;
• accounting and;
• financial reporting.

The Corporate Accounting, Policy and Internal Control Directorate (CAPIC) of CATP develops departmental financial and accounting policies, prepares external financial reports, and conducts ongoing monitoring of internal controls over financial management and reporting.

The Internal Control unit of CAPIC conducts internal control reviews and risk-based continuous monitoring controls of CIRNAC and ISC processes to provide assurance on the design and operational effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting. Planned reviews are identified in annual risk-based ongoing monitoring plans.

The objective is to obtain audit and advisory services on an as and when requested basis for internal controls over financial management and systems, continuous monitoring, data extraction and analyses support, and financial and accounting services.
