Natural Resources Canada, Energy Technology Sector, has a requirement for an analyzer for detection, quantification and reporting of C1-C10 hydrocarbons and benzene/toluene/ethylbenzene/xylene (BTEX), present in dilute concentrations in gaseous phase, in a combustion product stream. The experimental system simulates destructive flare conversion of effluent streams from the upstream oil & gas industry. The combustion product stream, contained in a closed-loop wind tunnel, will be sampled and conditioned prior to injection into the analyzer for detection of the hydrocarbons. The concentration of the hydrocarbons are expected to be in the sub-ppm level (during background/baseline conditions), and depending on the compound, may accumulate up to 100 ppm over the course of an experiment. Refer to Figure 1 for a simple schematic of the application. The box in red represents the analyzer to be purchased through this process.
