    Background
Echocardiography is one of the most important tools in heart
research and therapy. A cardiovascular ultrasound system capable
of examining the heart structure and function in animals and
humans in both 2-dimension as well as 4-dimension is critical to
research programs at Canadian Centre for Agri-Food in Health and
Medicine. The system will be used to analyze the heart
structure, which includes the dimensions of heart walls and
chambers. It will also examine the ability of the heart to
contract (systolic heart function), and the ability of the heart
to relax (diastolic heart function) from the studies using the
animal models of heart disease. The data generated for these
studies will help support heart health claims for Canadian crops
    which contain bio-actives.
