A key part of this effort will be the provision of a web publishing platform including the applications and infrastructure required to deliver a single consolidated, secure and performant Government of Canada public-facing website which will serve the following principal needs: · Enable easy, Government of Canada policy compliant, distributed web publishing by all departments under the management of one department which will be the principal publisher; · Include a gallery of mobile applications to be downloaded from the site; · Provide web analytics reporting on all usage types across the environment; · Enable online citizen collaboration and engagement through the site; · Facilitate integration with the Government of Canada's social media presence. . On July 31, 2013, Canada will host a 90 minute information session in the National Capital Region to present the current state of its Web environment and receive initial feedback on the state of industry capabilities to provide a managed service of a Web publishing platform that addresses the targeted needs. This will initiate a wider consultation that will allow industry to suggest and propose approaches for the managed service of a Web publishing platform within the Government of Canada. The work under consideration includes the delivery of the platform supporting the consolidated Government of Canada website, web management tools, distributed web publishing functionality and supporting infrastructure (content servers, databases and other storage) and ongoing operation and support services including but not limited to: · Ongoing operations and management of the environment to Government of Canada service levels and security requirements; · Support to the principal publisher and to the publishing community in implementing new web templates and designs; · Support to the publishing community to facilitate distributed publishing through workflow and other tools; · Backup and recovery of the site; · Web content archival. This "Industry Engagement Day" session is open to interested suppliers and associations from industry. All media inquiries related to the Web Renewal Managed Services Initiative should be directed to the Media Relations Office at 613-957-2640. The purpose of the session is to canvass industry perspectives on the scope, procurement strategy and key requirements for a managed service that will satisfy the Web Renewal Managed Services Initiative. Canada will present information on these topics and elicit feedback from industry to help shape its strategy going forward.
