TO AUGUST 05, 2014 AT 11:00 A.M.*** PROJECT IDENTIFICATION: Project number R.010565.506, Timiskaming Ontario Dam Replacement Project. Located on Long Sault Island, Ontario, on the Ottawa River. PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The Timiskaming Dam Complex is located approximately 65 kilometres northeast of North Bay, Ontario, on the border between Quebec and Ontario. It includes two structurally independent dams, the Ontario dam and the Quebec dam, which are located on opposite sides of Long Sault Island in the Ottawa River. This requirement is for the replacement of the Ontario structure only (also referred to as the Timiskaming Ontario Dam). The dams were built between 1909 and 1913 by the Government of Canada in order to control the water level in Lake Timiskaming upstream and the flow of the Ottawa River downstream. Both dams are constructed of concrete structures that control the water flow by means of sluices containing removable stoplogs. The dams control the last major reservoir on the Ottawa River upstream from the St. Lawrence River at Montréal. The work consist of, but not be limited to, the following: • Construction of a new Ontario dam to replace the existing Ontario one; and • Demolition and removal of the existing Ontario dam and identified components. The project will require the successful Bidder to retain Quality Verification Engineers (QVE) throughout the contract period. QVE must be a Professional Engineer(s) licensed in the Province of Ontario and qualified to provide the QVE services specified in the Contract Documents. The QVE should have extensive experience directly related to the work for which Certificate of Conformance will be issued. Please Refer to section 01 45 00 - Quality Control for more information. Work is to be completed within eighty two (82) weeks after contract award. The estimated cost for this opportunity is above $5,000,001.00. MANDATORY SECURITY REQUIREMENT: This procurement contains a mandatory security requirement. At bid closing, the Bidder must hold a valid Designated Organization Screening (DOS). Failure to comply with this requirement will render the Bid non-compliant and no further consideration will be given to the Bid. SITE VISIT: There will be a site visit on August 05, 2014 at 11:00 a.m.. Interested bidders shall meet at the PWGSC shop at the Timiskaming Ontario Dam, located on Long Sault Island, Ontario, on the Ottawa River. It is mandatory that all persons attending the site visit have the proper (CSA approved green patch) safety atire. Safety footwear, hard hats, glasses and vests. Contractor's personnel/individuals who do not have the proper safety attire will be denied access to the site.
