    PROJECT INFORMATION:  Project number R. 042454.002,
    Modernization of Elevators and Subsequent Long-term Maintenance
    of the Elevators (ten (10) years plus the option to extend by up
    to three (3) additional five (5) year periods), Library and
    Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street, Ottawa, Ontario. 
    
    PROJECT DESCRIPTION:   The work for the modernization contract
    consists,  but is not limited to: upgrade the elevator systems
    and components to modern standards (addressing code compliance
    issues and good practice) as part of an overall program being
    undertaken at Library and Archives Canada.  The building is
    served by: 5 passenger elevators.  The West passenger elevator
    is being used to transport heavy, one-piece loads.  During the
    modernization contract, the contractor will be responsible for
    the maintenance of the elevators being modernized as indicated
    in the modernization specification.  Upon completion of the
    modernization work, Subsequent long-term maintenance contract of
    the elevators  will commence.
    
    Construction work (modernization of the elevators) is to be
    completed within eighty (80) weeks after contract award. 
    Subsequent long-term maintenance of the elevators (10 years)
    shall commence on the date of issuance of the Certificate of
    Completion of the construction work.
    
    In order to have their bids considered, bidders must be
    registered on all applicable 'List of Prequalified Elevator
    Maintenance Contractors for Electric Elevators in the province
    of Ontario.
    
    MANDATORY SECURITY REQUIREMENT:  This procurement contains a
    mandatory security requirement.  At bid closing, the Bidder must
    hold a valid Designated Organization Screening (DOS) Clearance.
    Failure to comply with this requirement will render the Bid
    non-compliant and no further consideration will be given to the
    Bid.
    
    SITE VISIT:  
    There will be a site visit on October 8, 2013 at 13:30 pm.  
    Interested bidders shall meet at the security desk of the
    loading dock, Library of Archives Canada, 395 Wellington Street,
    Ottawa, Ontario. 
    
    SAFETY ATTIRE - It is mandatory that all persons attending the
    site visit have the proper safety footwear (CSA approved green
    patch), and hard hat.  Individuals who do not have the proper
    safety attire will be denied access to the site.
