ECCC operates a network of thirty upper air-observing stations. Operators at these stations use balloon-borne instruments (radiosondes) and automated ground sounding systems to measure air temperature, relative humidity, atmospheric pressure, wind direction and velocity from surface to a pressure level of 3 hPa (or maximum ascent altitude). The data collected is transmitted to a central ECCC server (the Canadian Meteorological Centre in Montreal), automatically, in near real time. ECCC manages the telecommunication between the operational upper air site and its telecommunication servers.

Bidders may request a debriefing on the results of the bid solicitation process. Bidders should make the request to the Contracting Authority within 15 working days from receipt of the results of the bid solicitation process. The debriefing may be in writing, by telephone or in person.
