W8482-121789/A Wilkie, Neil Telephone No. - (819) 956-0704 Fax No. - (819) 956-0897 The Department of National Defence has a requirement to replace the outdated Oxygen Monitoring systems for the Main Recompression Chambers and SubSAR Recompression Chambers located at the Fleet Diving Unit (Atlantic) in Shearwater, Nova Scotia and Fleet Diving Unit (Pacific) in Victoria, British Columbia. The Oxygen Monitor is for ambient monitoring or for measuring gas samples from a recompression chamber. When used in conjuction with a gas sample line from the living chamber it can be configured to provide oxygen readings (% O2). Characteristics. The basic Oxygen Monitor unit should have the following characteristics: High and Low audible and visual alarms with false alarm suppression; Dual resolution - increases the resolution on the lower end of the scale or low levels (deep depths) when accuracy is critical; Between four (4) and five (5) inch digital LED (Light Emitting Diode) display for easy reading; Universality of power voltage: 97-260 Volts AC / 9-33 Volts DC /12-24 Volts AC; Output = 0 - 1 Volt (Standard: For local recording devices, local repeater); Panel Mount with Hyperbaric readings in millibar PP02 (partial pressure Oxygen) where the sensor is located inside the recompression chamber and provides a direct reading of chamber partial pressure oxygen levels; Height = Approx. 5 inches, Width = Approx. 4 inches, Depth = Approx. 10 inches, Weight = Approximately 4 pounds; and Variety of sensor options (i.e. Analox 9212 three year disposable series with builtin temperature compensation; Teledyne B1 or C3 disposable type which requires a separate temperature compensating module; the 100HYP MKIII Internal Chamber Analyzer or the Infinite Life Paramagnetic Sensor) with disposal due-date between one and three year that can be used inside and outside the recompression chamber. Performance Requirements: Capabilities. The Oxygen Monitor is to be mounted directly on the control panel and be readable standing up, to the majority of operators. It is preferable that the monitor provides continuous on-line analysis of recompression chamber air. It should include a battery back -up in case of main power failure. It should also have power ON/OFF switch, battery check controls and an alarm suppression capability, for the visual and audible alarms. The monitor shall be capable of being calibrated manually or the factory calibration settings being restored. Operational Availability & Flexibility. We are dealing with two Recompression Chamber systems that are fixed and inside a building and two other systems that are mobile and may be exposed to higher air salinity levels when deployed in a sea-going environment. Physical Requirements: Interchangeability. The level of assembly of the Oxygen Monitors at which compon
