    Summary description of the work
    
    The work targeted by this contract includes without limitation,
    repairing numerous existing components and adding structures so
    as to bring the Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines shooting range up to
    standards, thereby improving the safety of Department employees
    as well as that of the surrounding population. 
    
    Work of this Contract is summarized as follows: relocation of
    the existing stop-butt to a distance of 50 yards from the firing
    point; dismantling of the lateral deflectors, vertical braces
    and screens that will no longer be used; installation of new
    lateral and suspended deflectors and raising of certain existing
    deflectors; installation of a bullet catcher as well as a roof
    to cover the targets behind the targets on the stop-butt;
    transformation of the existing building at the firing point by
    adding a wall behind it and a section of roof necessary to
    enclose the shelter, including a paved interior floor and all
    other work defined in these specifications and/or on the
    drawings that are required to complete all of the work.
    
    
    OPTIONAL SITE VISIT
    It is recommended that the Bidder or a representative of the
    Bidder visit the work site.  Arrangements have been made for a
    tour of the work site.  The site visit will be held on September
    24, 2014  at 3 :00pm at the following address: Ste-Anne des
    Plaines Institution, 244 Montée Gagnon, Ste-Anne des Plaines, Qc
    
    MANDATORY SPECIAL INSTRUCTION FOR THE OPTIONAL SITE VISIT:
    With respect to the visit by the bidders, each person wishing to
    be present on the project site is required to submit to a
    security check with Correctional Services Canada prior to the
    visit, by completing the investigation form CSC-1279.(available
    in the Invitation to tender form) Then, once the form is duly
    completed by each person concerned, the form should be returned
    to the following email address, 341-projets@csc-scc.gc.ca. It is
    to be noted that any inquiry received before the September 19,
    2014 at 12h00pm,  the visit will not be processed by the CSC and
    that access to the site for these persons will be denied.
    Bidders who do not attend or send a representative will not be
    given an alternative appointment but they will not be precluded
    from submitting a bid.
    
    
    The estimated cost for this opportunity is between $1M - $5M.
