    1. Purpose and Nature of this Letter of Interest

    Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) on behalf of the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) is requesting Industry feedback regarding the capacity to provide two fully functional, Class approved, 1200 kW Retractable Azimuth Thruster systems as indicated in the attached Statement Of Requirement (SOR). The systems are to replace the existing forward and aft retractable 1200 kW HRP 6111 Azimuth Thrusters and associated equipment on the Canadian Coast Guard Ship CCGS Amundsen within the refit period tentatively scheduled for December of 2021.
    The objectives of this LOI are to:

    To help support a potential Request For Proposal (RFP);

    To have a better understanding of the positioning systems currently available on the market;

    To provide a continuous single point of official communication with industry that will remain open until a formal RFP is released.

    2. Background Information:

    The GCC has a requirement for two positioning systems as per the attached SOR.

    3. Potential Work Scope and Constraints:

    Following this LOI process, The CCG could aim to complete a SOR to support an eventual RFP that could be released by PWGSC and available on www.buyandsell.gc.ca. The resulting contract objectives would be to acquire two positioning systems, including installation, certification and fully operational commissioning in December of 2021.

    4. Legislation, Trade Agreements, and Government Policies:

    The following is indicative of some of the legislation, trade agreements and government policies that could impact any follow-on solicitation(s):
