Nature of Requirements: 
Requirement:
The Department of National Defence (DND) has a requirement for
Boatswain pipe and chain as described below.  The items are to
be manufactured in accordance with the item description, the DND
specification D-87-001-161/SF-001 dated January 1, 2011
including the deviations document dated July 18, 2011 and the
sealed patterns.

Item 1: 
Nato Stock Number 8465-99-219-2393 Boatswain pipe with split
ring (medium size) is to be manufactured with base metal being
Brass (para 3.5.1.2 of spec D-87-001-161/SF-001) plated Copper
(para 3.11.5) and then plated Nickel (para 3.11.2) or
manufactured with Steel (para 3.5.1.6) plated with Copper (para
3.11.5) and then plated Nickel (para 3.11.2).  The dimensions
are in accordance with the sealed pattern DCGEM 546-77. 

Item 2:
Nato Stock Number 8465-21-520-7828 Chain with fastening device
and 128 cm long  is to be manufactured with steel (para 3.5.1.6)
- plated Copper (para 3.11.5) and then plated Nickel (para
3.11.5).  Fastener: swivel 1 1/8 inches long and the chain curb,
10 links per inch, 50 inches long, Not soldered.  The chain is
to be manufactured in accordance with the sealed pattern DSSPM
614-95.

Firm Quantity
Item 1 - quantity 4,000 ea
Item 2 - quantity 4,000 ea

Option:
This requirement also includes an option to purchase an
additional quantity of 8,000 units exercisable for a period of
24 months from the date of contract award.

Delivery:
It is requested that delivery for both items commence 30 days
after approval of the pre-production samples.  Deliveries are to
made to the Canadian Forces Supply Depots in Edmonton, Alberta
and Montreal, Quebec.  

Pre-Award Sample
Pre-award samples are requested with the bid.

Canadian Content Policy
This requirement is subject to the Canadian Content Policy and
is conditionally limited to Canadian origin goods.

Sealed Patterns:
The sealed patterns are available for viewing at the following
Department of Publics Works and Government Services Regional
Offices:  Montreal, QUÉ; Québec, QUÉ; Mississauga, ON; Winnipeg,
MB; Edmonton, ALTA. and Vancouver, BC, and at DND, Gatineau QUE.
