The Emergencies Science and Technology Section (ESTS) of Environment & Climate Change Canada has requirement for a UV weathering chamber capable of providing simulated solar radiation (300 to 800 nm) to irradiate materials and surfaces to assess the effect of photo-oxidative weathering of crude oils, diluted bitumen and related petroleum products.  The instrument must be comprised of the following components: sample tray, xenon light source and light filters, programmable instrument control via touchscreen interface to deliver set irradiation patterns, air-cooling of the sample chamber, a cooling table for sample temperature control, internal water spray for sample wetting during weathering cycles, a sample immersion bath, and detectors for monitoring radiation delivery.
