    Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has a requirement for a launchway construction in Charlottetown, Newfoundland. 
    
    The work covered consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for the construction of a new launchway and laydown area at Charlottetown, Labrador, NL in strict accordance with specifications and accompanying drawings and subject to all terms and conditions of the Contract.
    
    In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:
    
    .1 Removal of the existing armour stone, as shown on the drawings. Existing armour stone may be salvaged and re-used in the new work.
    .2 Removal and disposal of the existing concrete block, as indicated on the drawings.
    .3 Removal of all debris within the area designated on the drawings.
    .4 Clearing and grubbing of the existing uplands area, as indicated on the drawings.
    .5 Construction of a new 6.1m wide x 36.2m long launchway consisting of treated timber cribwork (including a concrete filled crib) reinforced concrete pre-cast slabs, slab-on-grade, and treated dimension timber, as detailed on the drawings.
    .6 Cribseat excavation to facilitate placement of new cribwork, as shown on the drawings.
    .7 Supply and installation of rock fill, granulars, filter stone, armour stone, stone barricades, and rock scour protection, as detailed on the drawings.
    .8 Dredging of the existing seabed to the depth and limits shown on the drawing.
    
    Bidders must refer to R2710T GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (GI) (2021-04-01) for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement.
    
    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE 
    
    Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid or costs to do the work. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. 
    
    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 28 - Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
