    Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) has a
    requirement on behalf of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
    (DFO) for Wharf Reconstruction, Hermitage, NL.  The scope of
    work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment,
    and material for wharf reconstruction at the existing wharf
    facilities at Hermitage, NL.
     
    The project work will also consist of, but will not necessarily
    be limited to, the following:
    1.  Demolition, removal, and disposal of the existing
    deteriorated treated (creosote) timber pile wharf. All
    demolished and excavated materials to be disposed of at an
    approved waste disposal site.
    2.  Construction of a new treated timber cribwork wharf,
    complete with timber deck, to the dimensions indicated on the
    drawings.
    3.  Harbour dredging as indicated on the drawings.
    4.  Supply and installation of mooring cleats, structural timber
    for beams, wheelguard, wheelguard blocking, untreated hardwood
    fenders, ladders, and associated hardware.
    5.  Supply and installation of uplands rock and gravel fill,
    topped with granular base, as noted on the drawings.
    6.  Supply and installation of scour protection around the
    perimeter of new wharf.
    7.  Supply and installation of filter stone and armour stone
    along the existing retaining wall, as noted on the drawings. 
    
    SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS
    
    FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE
    
    Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit
    the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form,
    nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the
    completion of the work, the means of access to the site,
    severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions,
    any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain
    all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other
    circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No
    allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on
    account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine
    the conditions that will apply.
    
    Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review
    specification Section 01 35 29 - Health and Safety Requirements
    before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for
    any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
    Obtain prior permission from the Departmental Representative
    before carrying out such site inspection.
    
    Bidders must refer to GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION
    SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS - R2710T (2015-07-03) for
    the Integrity Provisions (Bid) applicable to this requirement.
