Public Works and Government Services Canada has a requirement for Wharf Reconstruction at Port Aux Basque, NL.

ALL CONTRACTORS TO TAKE NOTE THAT NO SITE WORK CAN TAKE PLACE PRIOR TO APRIL 01, 2017 BUT ITEMS SUCH AS REQUIRED PERMITTING SHOULD BE IN PLACE PRIOR TO THIS CONSTRUCTION START DATE.

The scope of work consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment, and material for the wharf reconstruction at Channel-Port aux Basques, NL consisting of a reinforced concrete deck and treated timber cribwork and span construction. 

In general, the work under this contract consists of, but will not necessarily be limited to, the following:

• Demolition, removal, and disposal of reinforced concrete deck, cleats, wheel guard, blocking, coping, crib timber structures, and electrical system as shown on drawings;
• Supply and installation of a new treated timber crib wharf with reinforced concrete deck, mooring cleats, ladders, fenders, wheel guard, wheel guard blocking and wooden light poles as indicated;
• Underwater infill repairs as indicated;
• Supply and installation of new electrical enclosure andall associated wiring and lighting;
• Supply and installation of  new  base and surface course asphalt complete with granular sub-base as indicated;
• Removal of timber, tires, misc. debris at sea bottom around existing wharf structure.


Bidders must refer to R2710T GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (GI) (2016-04-04) for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE

Before submitting a bid, bidders can visit the site and its surroundings, at their own expense, to review and verify the form, nature, and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure, and uncertainty ofweather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies, and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account or error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply.

Contractors, bidders, or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 - Health and Safety Requirements beforevisiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid.
