The work covered under this contract consists of the furnishing of all plant, labour, equipment and material for Wharf Reconstruction, Newman’s Cove, Newfoundland and Labrador. In general, work under this contract consists of but will not necessarily be limited to the following: .1 Demolition and removal of existing finger pier structure including cribwork, ramp, and reinforced concrete retaining structure in its entirety. .2 Removal of construction debris in areas as indicated on survey plan of drawings. .3 Supply and install new treated timber cribwork finger pier complete with reinforced concrete deck, treated timber wheelguard and mooring cleats. .4 Treated timber cribwork to have sloped approach from the existing road grade to the finished deck elevation as indicated. .5 Cribs shall be scribed to hard bottom, complete with concrete filled bays and rock anchors as indicated. .6 Place armour stone protection on seaward side of timber crib finger pier complete with geogrid as indicated. .7 Dredge (Class A) harbour bottom to depths as indicated. .8 Contractor shall protect existing adjacent building and slipway during demolition of existing and construction of new wharf structure. SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS Bidders must refer to Section 01 35 29, item 1.11, Project/Site Conditions of specifications before performing any site inspections to familiarize themselves with all existing conditions as they apply to the scope of work. All individuals planning to visit the site are required to provide their own Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials needed for the completion of the work, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. Contractors, bidders or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 - Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid. Bidders must refer to R2710T GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (GI) (2018-06-21) for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement.
