Site of Work is at the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Centre, East White Hills Road, St. John's, NL. In general, work under this Contract consist of, but is not limited to, the following: .1 Electrical Life Cycle replacements of select electrical equipment including the existing generator system in H7 and associated mechanical and electrical equipment. .2 Replacement of select electrical feeders and miscellaneous distribution equipment related to the above. .3 The NAFC has known drywall joint compound asbestos concerns in some areas of the building. If the replacement of any electrical component requires the resizing/cutting of an opening in a drywall partition, refer to Appendix A and contact the Departmental Representative before proceeding with that work. Complete all abatement work prior to the start of other works. .4 The NAFC has known generator system duct and plenum insulation asbestos concerns. Refer to Appendix A and contract the Departmental Representative before proceeding with the Work. .5 Full system commissioning by equipment manufacturer's certified staff. .6 Completion of Work during off-hours as directed by the Departmental Representative. .7 The facility is to be fully operational throughout construction and at the end of each shift. .8 Provide temporary emergency generator system power during construction. .9 Repair or replace building finishes as required or as directed to match existing conditions. .10 Removal from site and disposal of demolished equipment as directed by the Departmental Representative. .11 Miscellaneous works required for the above. .12 All other works identified in the drawings and specification. Bidders must refer to R2710T GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - CONSTRUCTION SERVICES - BID SECURITY REQUIREMENTS (GI) (2020-05-28) for the Integrity Provisions applicable to this requirement. FAMILIARIZATION WITH SITE Before submitting a bid, it is recommended that bidders visit the site and its surroundings to review and verify the form, nature and extent of the work, materials necessary for the completion of the works, the means of access to the site, severity, exposure and uncertainty of weather, soil conditions, any accommodations they may require, and in general shall obtain all necessary information as to risks, contingencies and other circumstances which may influence or affect their bid. No allowance shall be made subsequently in this connection on account of error or negligence to properly observe and determine the conditions that will apply. Contractors, bidders or those they invite to site are to review specification Section 01 35 29 -Health and Safety Requirements before visiting site. Take all appropriate safety measures for any visit to site, either before or after acceptance of bid. All personnel visiting the site shall provide their own personal protective equipment (PPE). The PPE shall include as a minimum safety glasses, boots, hard hat, vest and any equipment required by the Province or construction association as protection against COVID -19.
