Black Rapids Lock 13 Upgrades, Rideau Canal


Extension of Time.
Notice is hereby given that the closing date for the reception
of tenders previously due
Thursday October 1,  2015 is extended to Tuesday, October 6,
2015 at 2pm.

The work under this contract covers the furnishing of all
labour, material, tools, equipment, plant, and supervision
required to upgrade Black Rapids Lock.  The work involves gate
replacements, concrete and masonry repairs, stoplog fabrication
and mechanical/electrical/hydraulic upgrades; this work will
require dewatering the lock.  The Black Rapids Lock is located
on the Rideau River with access from Prince of Wales Drive (2453
Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, ON). 

The Contractor shall perform and complete the Work by April 30,
2016 with the following project constraints:

a)  Work shall not interfere with public use and operation of
the canal at Lock 13  , Ontario during navigation season which
ends October 12th 2015.  Navigation begins May 20th, 2016.
b)  Locks 13 at Black Rapids, Rideau Canal must remain navigable
during the navigation season and no works shall interfere with
public use and operation of the canal.  No on site works are
permitted on site during the navigational season.
c)  Contract is anticipated to be awarded within 30 days of
tender closing.

OPTIONAL  SITE  VISIT
There will be a site visit on Monday, 21 September 2015 at 1:00
p.m. (13:00 hrs.).  Interested bidders are to meet at 2453
Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa, ON.  

The site visit for this project is OPTIONAL.  It is recommended
that the Bidder or a representative of the Bidder visit the work
site. 

Bidders are requested to communicate with the Contracting
Authority, Mary Caporusso at (416) 512-5859, or
mary.caporusso@pwgsc-tpsgc.gc.ca no later than 9th September
2015 to confirm attendance and provide the name(s) of the
person(s) who will attend. Bidders may be requested to sign an
attendance sheet. Bidders who do not attend or do not send a
representative will not be given an alternative appointment but
they will not be precluded from submitting a bid. Any
clarifications or changes to the bid solicitation resulting from
the site visit will be included as an amendment to the bid
solicitation.

this project, when issued, will be available from the same
