    Highway Repair and Maintenance

    Km 133 to  Km 589, Alaska Highway, B.C.
    
    Work Description:
    Work under this contract consists of routine repair and
    maintenance of the Alaska Highway from Km 133 to Km 589. Work
    will be performed in accordance with the contract schedules
    within the scope of work.  The work includes but is not limited
    to:
    - blading
    - repairing highway surface and slopes
    - cleaning and repairing drainage ditches
    - cleaning, repairing, replacing and marking culverts
    - cleaning and making repairs to bridges
    - cleaning and repairing damaged guardrails
    - thawing culverts and special work during breakup
    - removing snow, sanding and controlling ice
    - making emergency repairs to washouts and slides
    - applying pavement markings
    - placing gravel from stockpile to road
    - supplying sand/salt and asphalt mixtures
    - brush and weed control
    - removing animals and debris from roadway
    ** Contractor is responsible for notifying utility companies &
    BC One Call
    
    Notwithstanding GC 5.4, Canada may pay the Contractor an amount
    that is equal to 100 percent of the value that is indicated in
    Canada's progress report if Canada, at its sole discretion, is
    of the opinion that a holdback is not necessary.
    
    Bidders' Conference:
    Contractors are strongly recommended to attend the bidders'
    conference prior to submitting a tender for this work and to
    make enquiries or investigations necessary to become thoroughly
    acquainted with the nature and extent of the work.
    
    A bidders conference will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 3,
    2015. Interested contractors are to meet at the PWGSC office in
    Fort Nelson, B.C.

    To assist with bonding and insurance requirements this project
    is estimated to cost between 
    $16,000,000.00  - $18,000,000.00.
