    Title:  Sewage Lagoon Rehabilitation

    Location: Pacific Rim National Park, Ucluelet, BC

    Work Description:
    Work under this Contract covers Lagoon Sludge Removal and
    Rehabilitation for sewage lagoon located in the Pacific Rim
    National Park in Ucleuelet, BC. Constructed in 1972, the lagoon
    services a washroom and visitor centre and restaurant located
    off the Wickanninnish Road. A vacuum truck is contracted to haul
    all other sewage generated in the park to the lagoon for
    treatment. The sewage is trucked from day use areas along Long
    Beach, trail heads, Greenpoint campgound and the administrative
    buildings. The lagoon operates by allowing solids to settle out
    in a facultative cell. Currently, effluent from the facultative
    cell discharges through a pair of overflow pipes to the
    infiltration cell. Existing facility requires some repair and
    upgrade.

    Work to be performed under this Contract includes the following
    items:
    1) Remove, dewater and dispose sludge from the existing
    facultative cell;
    2) Clear vegetation from around lagoon perimeter and along
    the forcemain route;
    3) Replace existing Air Release Valves and Chambers with New
    Air Release Valves and Chambers;
    4)   	Install new screen, truck pad, and spillway at dump area;
    5)   	Replace valve and overflow pipe between cells;
    6) Replace effluent decant chamber with a new decant
    structure and associated piping, weir gate and valves;
    7) Berm armouring at overflow and outflow locations from
    facultative lagoon cell;
    8) Remove existing fence and replace with new chain link
    fence for wildlife barrier requirements;
    9) Install new electric fencing on the outside of the new
    chain link;
    10) Repair sections of the berm to the new designed elevation.
    Extend berm height by min 0.5m from the existing dike clay zone
    and then replace the road base on top.
