SCOPE OF WORK The purpose of this requirement is to obtain services of a certified welding technician for the purpose of maintaining and repairing of various steel structures and structural components along the Alaska Highway (the Highway). The services will be on an as and when requested basis as directed by the Departmental Representative. The work to be performed under this Contract would be undertaken in order to carry out proactive and corrective maintenance functions by performing various types of welding using gas and electric welding equipment. The scope of work includes but is not limited to: • Repairing broken or cracked welds on structural/non-structural steel • Welding rivet connections • Repairing Nicks and Gouges (up to 5 mm) • Repairing broken welds to Steel grid decks (Tetsa River 1, Racing River, McDonald River bridges) • Repairing damaged W-Beam guard rails on Truss bridges (Tetsa River 1, Racing River, McDonald River bridges) • Repairing damaged railing on sidewalks (Lower Liard bridge, Muskwa River bridge) • Applying paint or corrosion protection to welded area, if requested by the Departmental Representative • Perform traffic management, including signage and flaggers, as required (identify in Basis of payment) • Submit a Site Specific Safety Plan and a Traffic Management Plan, as required The period of the standing offer is 2 years plus 1 additional 1 year period(s) under the same conditions. Firms that elect to base their proposal on documents obtained from other sources do so at their own risk and will be solely responsible to inform the tender calling authority on their intention to bid.
