    OVERVIEW

    The Gilles Marceau building, located at 2251 René-Lévesque Boulevard in Jonquière, is strategically located in the municipality of Saguenay. It is home to the Jonquière Tax Centre, which is located at the intersection of two major thoroughfares, Du Royaume Boulevard and René-Lévesque Boulevard. A third street, Ste-Émilie Street, has parking spaces available. There are residential properties on the remaining or fourth side of the building.

    The work will be performed in an occupied federal property. As an employer, the federal government has obligations under the Canada Labour Code, Part II, and must mitigate occupational health and safety risks to ensure that its employees have a healthy workplace. Therefore, interior work causing discomfort (noise, vibrations, odours and dust) will be carried out after office hours. Furthermore, mitigation measures will be taken so that clients’ equipment remains in working order. The project team will phase in work in steps or sequences to minimize disruption to tenants.

    This project must be completed in time for CRA to be completely up and running in the new accommodations by the peak period for processing tax returns starting in January 2018.The scope of the work includes, but is not limited to:
      - Replacement of the architectural finishes of the premises concerned;
      - The addition of two washrooms and an electric room;
      - Modifications to electromechanical systems, as described in the Drawings and Specifications;
      - Interventions in existing mechanical and electrical rooms, as described in the Drawings and Specifications.

    Once the project is completed, it will allow for an increase in the number of employees relocated to fit-up space in the open area on the ground floor where files used to be located in the past. This project seeks to maximize the WP 2.0 development of this space in order to provide a modern workplace with approximately 300 workstations. A fit-up of approximately 3,030m² is planned for occupancy in January 2018 in order to handle the new programs assigned to the Jonquière Tax Centre.

    Setting up some 300 workstations will require mechanical work entailing increased fresh air intake and resulting increased heating and cooling loads. The project will involve work to supply electricity to new circuits for the new offices. At the architectural level, there are plans to change the carpeting, paint the walls and so on. In addition, a comfort station (washrooms) will be added nearby, and floor finishes will be replaced.
