Description
Trade Agreement: Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT) Tendering Procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid Attachment: None Competitive Procurement Strategy: Best Overall Proposal Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: No Nature of Requirements: Title : Picosecond Erbium-doped fibre based laser system W7701-145724 Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) - Valcartier would like to acquire one (1) picosecond fibre based laser system for supercontinuum generation in optical fibres. High brightness broadband sources in the 3 µm to 5 µm atmospheric window with good beam quality and divergence are needed for spectroscopy and metrology as well as defense applications. There have been several demonstrations of mid-infrared supercontinuum generation with optical fibers. As part of our project, supercontinuum generation will be done using a picosecond fibre laser system that will be injected into an optical fiber. To obtain good supercontinuum conversion efficiency, the fibre based laser system should be powerful Erbium-doped fibre-based laser source with polarized laser beam. The picosecond fibre based laser system will be incorporated into an existing supercontinuum setup. The requirement is subject to Agreement on Internal Trade (AIT). Item Mandatory Technical Criteria 1 External dimensions of the laser head: < 45 cm width x 45 cm depth x 15 cm height 2 The weight of the laser head: < 10 kg 3 External dimensions of the laser power supply: < 55 cm width x 55 cm depth x 25 cm height 4 Central wavelength of the output laser beam must be: 1550 nm ± 10 nm 5 The output laser beam must be linearly polarized with a extinction ratio > 10 dB 6 The pulse duration of the output laser pulse must be : 50 ps ± 30 ps (measured at full width at half maximum intensity) 7 The maximum pulse energy of the output laser pulse must be: > 7 microjoules 8 The repetition rate of the output laser beam must be : 1 MHz ± 0.2 MHz 9 The maximum mean power of the output laser beam must be > 7 W 10 The maximum peak power of the output laser pulse must be : > 100 kW 11 The spatial profile of the output laser beam must be: M2 < 2 12 The beam diameter (at collimator output) must be between 1.5 mm and 4 mm (measured at 1/e2) 13 The Erbium-doped picosecond fibre based laser source must be powered by an electric source of 110 volts, <15 ampere, single phase at 60 Hz 14 The laser head and the laser power supply must air cooled 15 The length of the umbilical cable between the laser head and the laser power supply must be between 1.5 m and 4 m 16 The energies and powers of the fibre based laser sources must be controlled by a computer over a USB cable or a RS232 cable. The computer must run on the Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system Delivery Date All the deliverables must be received on or before March 26, 2014. Basis of Selection - Mandatory Technical Criteria A bid must comply with the requirements of the bid solicitation and meet all mandatory technical evaluation criteria to be declared responsive. The responsive bid with the lowest evaluated price will be recommended for award of a contract.
