Nature of Requirements: 

Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) on behalf of Defence Research and Development Canada (DRDC) located in Ottawa, Ontario, is requesting Industry feedback on the Next-Generation Digital High-Resolution Space-Based Radar (NGen SBR) demonstrator mission, a planned Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) prototype satellite to demonstrate digital, dual-band and high-resolution radar capabilities that leverage recent technological breakthroughs. This project will mature and de-risk the cutting-edge technology required for future “software-defined SAR” missions.

The objectives of this Request for Information (RFI) are to:  

a. Inform Industry of DRDC’s requirement for a NGen SBR demonstration mission;
b. Determine Industry’s capability to provide the NGen SBR mission within the schedule timeline listed in section 6;
c. Obtain input from Industry on the feasibility, deficiencies, and proposed improvements with respect to the NGen SBR requirements; 
d. Solicit feedback and recommendations on any issues that would impact Industry’s ability to fulfill the requirements; and
e. Obtain indicative costing estimates from Industry. 

This RFI is not a bid solicitation, and no agreement or contract will be entered into as a result of this process. The issuance of this RFI is not in any way a commitment by Canada, nor an authority to potential respondents to undertake any work that could be charged to Canada. This RFI does not create an obligation for Canada to issue a solicitation and does not bind Canada to enter into any agreement or to accept any suggestions from organizations. Canada reserves the right to accept or reject any or all comments received.

Participation in this RFI is encouraged, but is not mandatory. Respondents should note that this RFI is not a pre-selection process and that there will be no short-listing of potential suppliers for the purposes of undertaking any future work as a result of this RFI. Participation in this RFI is not a condition or prerequisite for the participation in any potential subsequent industry engagement activities or solicitations. 

The RFI closing date published herein is not an explicit deadline for comments or input. Comments and input will be accepted any time up to the time when/if an RFP is issued.
