TITLE : Leica GNSS equipment 23267-210063/A Lee, Hilda Telephone No. - (604) 764-6053 E-mail Address: Hilda.Lee@pwgsc-tpsgc.gc.ca The Surveyor General Branch (SGB) has been task with developing a Survey Capacity Development Program (the "Program") that will target 24 First Nation communities over 5 years and will provide up to 12 weeks of in-community training to each First Nation community. In order to prepare for the additional fieldwork requirements under the Program, SGB undertook an audit of existing field survey equipment held by each regional office. The purpose was to provide baseline data regarding the ability of regional offices to take on the additional workload required under the Program with current equipment levels and to provide an inventory of existing equipment to ensure compatibility of any new equipment purchased. Following the audit, it was determined that some SGB regional offices have fully outfitted field crews, including GNSS receivers and total stations. This equipment will be allocated to the Program wherever possible; bearing in mind this equipment is also used for other client work and may not always be available for the Program. At its peak, the Program will have 14 communities participating requiring 48 weeks of in-community filed training. To ensure sufficient field training equipment is available to not conflict with the scheduling of other regional office field operations. It was determined that 2 GNSS kits and 3 Total Station kits would be purchased and staged in regional offices of potential high activity under the Program. The equipment was purchased during the spring of 2019 and has been distributed to areas of heightened program activity (Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto). Following a review of First Nation program interest, it has been determined that the Program will need to acquire an additional GNSS kit to support First Nation capacity development in the Manitoba Region. To ensure 100% compatibility with our existing inventory of receivers, controllers, data storage media, file format, batteries and processing of raw data with our existing equipment, SGB recommends that the department purchase an additional Leica GNSS kit. The supplier must be an equipment manufacturer or an authorized reseller and provide local technical service to the current equipment locations (Vancouver, Edmonton and Toronto) along with the Winnipeg area as verified by Surveyor General Branch of Natural Resources Canada. The GNSS equipment must be delivered to the Vancouver SGB Regional Office no later than Friday, October 30, 2020 in order to permit testing and calibration prior to commencement of use for in-community training to First Nations in the Manitoba region.
