National Research Council Canada requires Instrument Scientists to provide Mission & Operations Support for the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) program at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI) in Baltimore, Maryland as part of a cooperative agreement with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) of the United States of America.

Instrument Scientists will be required to support ground-system development for the Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) and the Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph (NIRISS).

Travel may be required principally to university partners and major astronomy meetings. Shift work at
STScI to support instrument commissioning may be required. Scientific research may necessitate additional travel to enable data collection, collaboration, or dissemination of scientific results.

The requirement is subject to the provisions of the North America Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), Canada Free Trade Agreement (CFTA), Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) and the World Trade Organization-Agreement on Government Procurement (WTO-GPA). 
The Work is to be performed during the period of April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021.

Canada intends to issue a maximum of four (4) contracts under this requirement. 

The Crown retains the right to negotiate with suppliers on any procurement.
