Agriculture and Agri Food Canada (AAFC), Cereal Quality Laboratory located in Winnipeg, Manitoba and Swift Current Research and Development Centre located in Swift Current, Saskatchewan test whole-meal durum samples for gluten strength using a Gluten Index machine.  The Laboratories require a new gluten testing machine to test outlier durum samples in an efficient manner with a relatively small sample size.

Gluten screening is critical to Agriculture and Agri Food Canada's plant breeding programs in the early stages of varietal development.
