Liquid Chromatography

The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC), Grain Research Laboratory
(GRL) has a requirement for the supply and delivery of a liquid
chromatograph high resolution mass spectrometer (LC-HRMS) for
the analysis of small molecules (< 1000 Da) in grains and
grain-related matrices.  The small molecules to be analyzed
include, but are not limited to, pesticides, mycotoxins, and
biomarkers.  The equipment is to be delivered to the CGC in
Winnipeg, MB. On or before March 31, 2015.  
The LC-HRMS will complement the current mass spectrometry
capabilities of the Trace Organics Trace Elements (TOTE) group
in the GRL.  Currently, TOTE is equipped with triple quadrupole
mass spectrometers for routine targeted sensitive analyses.  Due
to this current capacity in TOTE, importance is being placed on
resolving power over sensitivity in the purchase of an LC-HRMS
in order to give TOTE the ability to perform untargeted
analyses.  Additionally, resolving power at low m/z ratios is
required because of the focus of TOTE on small molecules.
It should be noted that there are space limitations in the TOTE
group, and a benchtop LC-HRMS system is required in order to fit
into existing appropriate (ie. with access to proper power and
ventilation) laboratory space.
