Indigenous Services Canada (ISC) has a requirement for an infant radiant warmer to be used for neonatal thermoregulation/resuscitation in a remote First Nations nursing station near High Level, Alberta. Pediatricians, physicians, or neonatal nurses do not routinely provide services in this location and the unit can be used for eight (8) hours or longer to provide infant stabilization for oxygen and heat until the infant can be transported out or specialist teams can arrive into the community. The warmer is not used frequently (6 to 8 times per year) but needs to be robust enough to function reliably when it is needed. Due to its infrequent use, the dusty environment, and rotating nursing and paramedic staff within the nursing station, the warmer must be easy to use with fewer interactive parts.
