Trade Agreement: Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) Tendering Procedures: All interested suppliers may submit a bid Competitive Procurement Strategy: Best Overall Proposal Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement: No Nature of Requirements: Sea Urchin Removal Parks Canada has a requirement for the services of a contractor to build a team of certified commercial sea urchin divers, vessels, and packers to reduce the density of red, purple and green sea urchins by 75-95% from 3 km of shoreline down to ~50 feet depth on NE Murchison Island in Gwaii Haanas NPR, NMCAR, and HHS. All marketable sea urchins will be transported for commercial processing or food for Haida communities and all non-marketable urchins will be lethally smashed underwater. Efforts will be made and documented in an Indigenous Benefits Plan to engage experienced Haida commercial seafood divers in commercial fishing activities, Haida Nation vessel owner/operators and local Haida Gwaii seafood processors in urchin processing related to this project wherever possible. The work is tentatively scheduled for September 12-21 2018, with additional days as needed to complete the work if there are delays due to poor weather.
