In order for us to provide as much detail as possible, are you able to provide us with:
1) Annual approximate number of payments 
2) Approximate dollar value of each of the payments
3) Which divisions or types of payments would be made (Tax Returns, CERB, Child Benefit, CPP etc)

The purpose of this RFI is to gather information on potential alternative payment methods. For this reason, the details requested are not currently available. At this stage, we can offer the following information in response to your question.

The Government of Canada - Domestic Payments dataset (https://open.canada.ca/data/en/dataset/e19d7468-6f95-475a-bcfc-4141cad76268) presents volumes and amounts processed through the Receiver General on behalf of client departments, agencies and Crown corporations. The dataset represents a comprehensive monthly snapshot of transactions processed though the Receiver General within the following payment types: Direct Deposit, Electronic Data Interchange, domestic wire payments issued through the Large Value Transfer System and Cheques. While direct deposit remains the GC payment method of choice, we understand that a portion of cheque recipients are not open to Direct Deposit; we wish to investigate alternatives to cheques for these Canadians. Cheques are currently issued for almost all payment programs, to recipients across a variety of geographic areas and demographic groups.
