    Forensic Biology Casework Services - Identification of Biological Material and Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) Analysis
    
    The Royal Canadian Mounted Police National Forensic Laboratory Services (NFLS), Biology Services processes case exhibits from crimes against the person and property crimes that fall within the list of designated offences within the DNA Identification Act.  NFLS requires complete Forensic Biology Casework Services on "an as and when requested" basis.
    
    The Contractor must be able to provide the following services (for more specific requirements, see Appendix 1): 
    
    i. Examination of exhibits for the recovery of biological material such as blood, semen, saliva, hair and skin cells (i.e contact DNA);
    ii. Identification of blood and semen using microscopic and chemical testing methods;
    iii. Identification of human hair suitable for nuclear DNA analysis;
    iv. Recovery and preservation of non-biological trace evidence; including fibres, glass and paint;
    v. Extraction of human DNA from biological material, including the differential extraction of biological material containing semen;
    vi. Quantification of total human and male DNA;
    vii. Performance of forensic DNA analysis including autosomal and Y-STR analysis;
    viii. Reporting of results;
    ix. Submission of suitable DNA profiles for review and entry into the Crime Scene Index of the National DNA Data Bank of Canada or the Local Investigative Index of the NFLS; 
    x. Provision of technical and expert witness testimony in criminal proceedings.
    
    The Contractor must be accredited as a Forensic Biology/DNA Testing Laboratory by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) as per the guidelines in the applicable document entitled SCC Requirements and Guidance for the Accreditation for Forensic Testing Laboratories.

    The requirement is limited to Canadian Services.
    
    The Work is to be performed during the period of 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2024 with option periods defined herein.
