    Description
This RFP is open to all interested vendors. The City of Calgary requires a qualified architectural firm to act as a Coordinating Registered Professional for the Walden Fire Station and Library project. The City will select a single integrated project team to provide all services from pre-design to post construction, delivering the envisioned project as outlined in this RFP. Situated on a 1.96-acre site at 969 Walden Drive SE, the Walden fire station and library will replace the existing active temporary modular fire station. The project integrates the design and construction of both the fire station and library as one integrated project, focusing on essential amenities and site requirements. The buildings will be initially constructed so they are LEED Gold certified. The Walden Fire Station and Library project will be moving forward as the three main scopes within one integrated project: (1) Design and construction of the fire station; (2) Design and construction of the library; and (3) Removal and relocation of the existing active temporary modular fire station. The program will include a fire station, approximately 15,000 sqft with 2 apparatus bays including all necessary additional facilities, to be designed as per the Design Guidelines for City of Calgary Fire Stations June 2023 (see 7.7.1.1 in Appendix F) and a community-centric library, covering approximately 11,000 sqft, offering traditional library functions. The Consultant's work will include coordinating of all required consulting services, architectural design, sustainability consulting, energy modelling, landscape architecture, and building engineering disciplines. The project spans the seven phases: pre-design validation, schematic design, design development, contract documentation, procurement services assistance, construction administration, and post construction. To be considered for this project, the Consultant must be able to be registered with the Alberta Association of Architects (and associated APEGA and AALA registrations as required for appropriate team members) prior to award. This procurement process is not intended to create, and, will not create, a formal, legally binding bidding process. It will instead be governed by the law applicable to direct commercial negotiations.
